Positive Behaviour Support
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred, inclusive, and value-led approach to supporting individuals with challenging behaviours. It is a proactive and evidence-based approach that focuses on understanding the reasons behind a person’s behaviour and seeks to develop positive and proactive support strategies to address their needs.
The primary goal of PBS is to improve the quality of life of individuals with challenging behaviours by reducing the use of restrictive interventions such as physical restraint and promoting the use of positive, proactive, and least restrictive approaches to support them.
Why Do Individuals Need PBS?
We believe that everyone should have the chance to live in a home, in a community, with access to life’s opportunities. However, for those with behaviours that challenge, mental health issues, and learning disabilities, this hasn’t always been possible. Therefore, our staff is fully trained and equipped with the right skills to support individuals to lead fulfilling lives by identifying their triggers and supporting them to develop skills that will ease their distress and enable them to live their best life.
At AV Support, we understand the importance of providing a consistent and personalised support routine to help individuals achieve their personal outcomes. The PBS Team is here to ensure that each individual is empowered and supported through a positive behaviour support approach, making sure that the systems we use to support people work for them.
